Fall MAKE UP Look

The Fall of 2010  fashion trends have been set on the runways of the world…This year, as always, there were some amazing makeup looks .
However, I must say there’s nothing unexpected or unusual , so it means that we can go into our makeup draw and pick up similar colours from past  seasons.  However  the fall season gives us a sense of style with the clothes, colors and textures, the hair and makeup after a very relaxed summer fashion.
I spent a few months overseas and up on my return I was very excited to tell my friends of the trends I saw specially in Japan… I loved  the fact that the  “Blush” was bold and obvious , not like in a “80s” kind of way…much more centered  and round on the cheeks.
On that note the Fall style of make up for most women…  A few suggestions and tips,
After the summer your skin is  naturally dehydrated, so make sure that  your “skin care regime”  is  appropriate. Serums, nourishing masques, rich night cream, and always an eye cream.
Before  designing your own fall look, make sure that your skin is glowing,
1) Sunscreen
2) Primer…Mac , SmashBox, Laura Mercier
3) Lip balm or plumper if you need to use it…Model Inc…
4) I  Love to use a liquid bronzer on  the cheeks  for that “natural” radiant look to keep a little of summer look.  Armani my favourite
5) Use either a liquid foundation or for a light coverage a tinted moisturizer. Mac my favourite a very close second Laura Mercier
6) Concealer  can be used under or over the foundation…I prefer over as it minimises the amount I need. Also if you are very dark  under the eyes and have a highly pigmented Concealer mix it with a dab of eye cream so it goes on more smoothly.  Mac, Amazing Concealer, Laura Mercier
7) On eye lids brush some powder to make sure it’s well dry before the eye shadow.
8) From here on start with the new colours for the season…Gold’s. Bronzes, Chocolates, mauve or  even  a Bottle or Moss Green. All slightly frosted….sheen, sheen
9) Your cheeks should be radiant as you’ve used the  liquid bronzer under  I choose a  cream Blush from either Mac or Bobby Brown just for a more “rosy healthy” glow
10) Lips : will depend if you want to be bold and choose the latest’s reds or stay soft with the natural bronzers ,and pink  hues….Make sure that your lips are always moist with a slight sheen….a very youthful look.
11) If you wish to apply false lashes do that last…
12) Here are some more options ….

The  favourite  smoky eye is back and better than ever.

Red lips, they are always on the fall runways

Gold eye shadow t try on a few and find the shade you feel the most comfortable in. Pair it with gold and bronze eye shadows and you will be ready for a night on the town.

It’s Cat Attack 3.0, aka our third story in the past two weeks that focuses on feline fashion. For fall, the makeup brand is introducing M·A·C Fabulous Felines, with three new collections inspired by the colors and textures of the world’s über-perfect pedigrees. To mirror the seductive shades of the fall ’10 runways, they’re offering up the chocolate-toned Burmese, the wild and sleek ginger Ocicat, and the plush and privileged sable Russian Blue. Plus, they’re letting you create a purr-fect cat-eye with the new Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in six new colors ranging from Defiantly Feline to golden Pure Show. So, if you want to mix-and-match with your own pet, or just want to serve as cat-nip, we suggest getting in on the fur-ocious trend before it’s too late—you don’t want to look like an alley cat, do you?

Fendi autumn/winter 2010-11

Matte Skin, Luminous Finish

Beautifully natural-looking skin was the big look for autumn/winter. For those not born with a fresh-faced glow, this look is all about the prep work. Prime skin with a moisturising serum or a few drops of MAC’s Care Blend Essential Oils before applying your foundation; then dust with pressed powder for a matte yet silky finish. NEXT TREND >>

Dior women are not shy, they’re modern and daring,” says John Galliano. The Dior fall color collection pays tribute to this idea of unabashed femininity with shades of sensual mauve, deep purple and smoky charcoal and grey tones. The eyes are the focal point of the look: endless and full lashes, mysterious, smoky lids and soft, pink hues for the lips.

Marchesa for Le Metier de Beaute Collection for Fall 2010

“The Collection takes the unparalleled textures and formulas Le Métier de Beauté is known for and transfixes them with the essence of Marchesa,” says Joanna Vorachek Austin, President of Le Métier de Beauté. “From the sleek packaging and the innovative formulas to the flawless application, the Marchesa for Le Métier de Beauté collaboration brings the best of both brands to the forefront of luxury.”

Ultra sophisticated shades Khaki Rose, Khaki Brun and Khaki Vert can be worn alone or combined for an urban chic camouflage effect. Available  on September 10th.

Perfectly mirroring the rich shades and slinky sophisticated looks we saw on the Fall 2010 runways.

There’s the pampered creature of luxury, the chocolate-hued Burmese, the wild and sleek ginger Ocicat, and the plush and privileged sable Russian Blue. It’s everything compelling we loved on the catwalk…chic, couture-inspired and cunningly compulsory!

I’m totally coveting the look at Brian Reyes: Bobbi Brown makeup artist Wendy Rowe paired scarlet-copper lids ( Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Eggplant) with a pale blue, lined undereye ( Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Aqua) for an earthy yet urban effect. —Maura Lynch, ELLE Associate Beauty Editor

While we’re eagerly anticipating the slew of super dark nail polish shades that are hitting stores later this year, in the meantime we’ve been looking for the perfect transitional color. The conditions were elaborate in scope and limiting in nature, as..

Skincare Tips for Tweens and Teens

This is a great time for parents to encourage their tweens/teens to take care of their skin and develop good habits that could effect them later. Parents should encourage washing face daily – emphasizing using a gentle cleanser and toner if appropriate and no scubbing. Avoiding wearing too much makeup to help prevent clogging pores. This is also a great time to talk to tween/teens about the importance of sunblock and wearing daily sunblock and avoiding tanning booth to prevent future sun damage and skin cancer.

Over The Counter product recommendations –
pHisoderm 4-Way Daily Acne Cleanser is a product that works for all skin types.
Cetaphil normal to oily cleanser, Cereve gentle cleanser, Skinceutical or Neutrogena ETOH-free toner, Panoxyl foaming wash, Neutrogena clear pore treatment, noncomedogenic sunblock, Stridex pads, OTC hydrocortisone

Adolescent acne:
Studies show that during adolescence close to 100% of the population has at least an occasional whitehead, blackhead or pimple – regardless of race or ethnicity. These studies also confirm that acne most frequently occurs between ages of 12 and 20. The likelihood of developing acne is greatest during adolescence because hormone levels become elevated. In most cases, acne begins between the ages of 10 and 13. Adolescent acne commonly disappears between the ages 20 and 25. However, severe acne, also known as nodular acne or cystic acne, may not resolve until 30-plus years of age.

Effective Skin care for acne:
The biggest secret to keeping acne under control is maintaining healthy skin as much as possible. This means keeping the skin clean and protecting it from sources of damage like sunshine and harsh cosmestics.
1) Cleansing your skin – always use a gentle soap or specialized skin cleaner and wash your face once or twice a day. Use a soft cloth to moisten your face and then apply the cleanser to all areas from the hairline to the neck. Rinse the cleanser with plenty of water and pat your face dry with a soft towel.
If you have especially oily skin, you may need to use an astringent or toner.
2) Protect your skin from the sun- many of the medications used to treat acne cause the skin to become more sensitive to sunshine and more vulnerable to burning. Always wear sunscreen when outdoors.
3) Choose your makeup with care – the best choice for good skin care for acne is to wear no makeup at all, but if you feel you must wear makeup choose noncomedogenic.
4) Avoid popping pimples, don’t do it! You are only inviting more trouble because the bacteria which causes pimples will spread. Popping pimples can also lead to permanent scarring.

Treatment:Over-the-counter products.
Benzoly peroxide, salicylic acid are the most common OTC medications used to treat acne.
Use hydrocortisone cream to spot/ treat a big pimple.
Generic: Benzoyl peroxide cream, gel, lotion, or soap.
Clearasil, Oxy Night Watch, Clearasil Clearstick Maximum Strength

When to see a dermatologist:
When none of the over-the-counter products and or remedies have worked.
Beginning to see scars after acne lesions clear.
Have painful, pus-filled lesions.
Have dark patch that is darker than my skin appears when my acne lesions clear.

Start Preparing For Your Fall Style

Tis the season to start preparing for the fall season and elevating your style.

Here’s an outline to help you get started so that your spending stays in check and you get your best fall looks ever.

Let’s start with some prep tips.

1.) Shop the magazine racks for Elle, Vogue, Allure, Glamour and Marie Claire. You’ll also want to browse the department store catalogues that arrive at the house. Tear out pictures of any styles that catch your eye. Also tear out pictures of items you already own or that are similar to ones you own. Take your fashion wish list with you.
Look for these items:
A classic suit
Smaller box handbag and clutch
Tailored pant, pleated skirt and a tailored jacket
(Note the lengths of the hemline as dresses and skirts are longer this season)
A splurge item like a shearling jacket or coat.
This fall’s styles include fuller skirts and longer cardigans.
Look for accessories such as belts that you can add to a suit or wear with a longer length cardigan.
Vary your textures and include cashmere, faux fur and knit dresses
Look for camel shades, buttery shades, burgundy, gray, olive green ( and any army green shades) and of course black.
Inspired 50’s looks
For heel heights look at the kitten heel and flats.

2.)Now is also the time to tackle your closet and assemble any summer pieces that can transition into fall.
Pieces that transition well:
Nude sling back or pump
Denim jacket
Ballet flats
Floral/Bohemian frock (best look knee length or calf length)
Floral blouse
Tunic or shirtdress
Sheath dress
Sleeveless little black dress LBD
Tuxedo or boyfriend jacket
Thin belts
Longer length cardigans
jeans
White shirt

3.) When you completed this task it will be time to hit all the best department stores and high-end boutiques, but don’t take your credit card or checkbook on this outing. This is an inspirational expedition only. Notice how the items are put together, check out the full price and take note of what stores had your favorite pieces. This way, when the sales start you can check online to compare prices. REMEMBER EARLY FALL SALES WILL START SOON!!!!!!

4.) The next step is to pull out your stored last fall’s fashions and weed out the items that need to altered to updated and pieces that just won’t make the cut, and you will save yourself from having a disjointed new fall look. You will by now be prepared and armed with the correct information and inspiration to start assembling your NEW fall looks and you’ll be more creative with this modern approach to styling.

Spending time now to do your research will save you time and money when you are ready to make your purchases and you will feel confident that you are not only getting the best deals but the best styles for you and items that will complete the gaps in your wardrobe.

Common Skin Care problems and inexpensive solutions that will surprise you

How to do it:Use every day or every other day with your favorite cleanser. Lifts off dry, dulling skin cells. Gently cleanses away  dirt and excess oil.

TWO:

Problem Cracked heels and thick skin: The two top reasons for cracked heels are walking barefoot and wearing backless shoes (sandals & flip flops).

NOTE : If you are experiencing bleeding, painful heel skin cracks that make it difficult to walk, please see your health practitioner as this may be a sign of a more serious problem.

SOLUTIONS :After showering apply a moisturizing product on your feet and then put on a pair of socks and slippers to protect your heels. Do minimal skin filing on heels and never use the callus blades.

What you’ll need: Zim’s Crack Creme Original Formula sold at drug stores.
Zim’s Crack Creme for Heels and Feet, 4.8 Ounce Tubes, Packaging May Vary (Pack of 3)

THREE:

Problem: Pimples on your BACK

Many of us experience acne breakouts on the back and combatting them can be difficult …especially if you live alone and don’t have anyone to apply the lotion.

Solution: Alpha Hydroxy Acid

What you’ll need: AHA beauty lotion found at health food and drug stores

How To: Apply an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) lotion to gently exfoliate and soften the skin. AHA’s may bring more blemishes to the surface for a couple of weeks, but afterward, your skin will stay clear as you continue to apply the AHA regularly to prevent breakouts. If you must apply the product solo here’s a easy tip. Place a sock over a back brush, place the product on the sock and apply to your back.
